Moqui stone - Large

Very little is known about the origins of the Moqui stone; only that it is from the United States, primarily Utah.

Each Moqui stone weighs approximately 60-80 grams. It's about the size of a large nut and measures around 4 cm in diameter.

The male Moqui stone is spherical.

Also known as “Moqui Balls” or “Shaman Stones,” many archaeologists believe they were used for centuries by shamans.

According to Hopi tradition, the word “Moqui” means “Beloved Dead” and these stones were used in games at dusk, when spirits were allowed to visit the material world.

At sunset, the spirits had to return to their world and left these stones as markers indicating they were well and happy. These stones were placed in homes as symbols of peace and happiness. They are often used in pairs (a male stone and a female stone).
