This tree is called quaresmeira, flor-de-quaresma, quaresmeira-roxa, and quaresma. It generally blooms twice a year, in July and August. These trees are found in the Atlantic Forest, Bahia, Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo, and Minas Gerais. The quaresmeira is ornamental, especially when in bloom, with a height of 8-12m and a trunk diameter of 30-40 cm; the branches are quadrangular and winged at the edges. The leaves are rigid, pubescent on both sides, measuring 15-20 cm long by 5-7 cm wide.
