MEANING OF THE TURKISH EYE

The Turkish eye keychain is often referred to as the Eye of Fatima, named after the daughter of the Prophet Muhammad, and it is combined with the Hamsa amulet to enhance its effects. Although it can take various patterns and designs, the Turkish eye is typically composed of a dark blue circle or sphere with a white and light blue eye overlay. The Turkish eye amulet appeared during the development of glassmaking in the Mediterranean around the 16th century BC. Legend has it that fair-haired, blue-eyed men could be malevolent and send negative vibrations through their gaze.

When the Turkish eye breaks or cracks, it has fulfilled its protective function and must be replaced with a new one.
