japamala rudraksha

The japamala rudraksha is composed of rudraksha seed beads totaling the symbolic number of 108 beads, a standard in japamalas.

The name rudraksha comes from the seeds of the Elaeocarpus ganitrus tree, resembling small nuts.

Various Hindu deities are depicted with strings and seeds of rudraksha. These seeds are believed to have various healing powers and numerous characteristics associated with good fortune and prosperity.

ABOUT THE JAPAMALA

The japamala or mala (Sanskrit: माला; mālā, meaning garland) is a series of beads, typically consisting of 108 beads, used by Hindus and Buddhists to count while reciting, singing, or mentally repeating mantras, similar to rosaries. This practice is called Japá in Sanskrit. The number has particular significance both physically and spiritually in Hinduism and Buddhism. Sometimes, some malas include four markers called chaturmaharaja, which are different and often symbolic beads. The 109th bead is called sumeru (central mountain in Buddhist cosmology), bindu (point of creation), stupa (dome-shaped structure that houses relics), or guru bead (master). This bead is never counted but indicates the beginning or end of a count.
