The Gay Tarot focuses on the life experiences and identity of gay men. While female figures are not excluded in some cards, the major arcana is based on male figures. The 78 illustrations of the gay tarot cover all ethnicities, body types, and sizes in modern and contemporary settings. In 2004, one of the largest tarot publishers (Lo Scarabeo) embraced the theme of homosexuality with this deck, making a gay tarot accessible to a wider audience.

The gay tarot, conceived by Lee Bursten and illustrated by Antonella Platano, includes a deck of 78 cards and an instruction booklet in English, Spanish, Italian, French, and German.
