“Sweet Virgin Mary, whose heart was prepared by God as the dwelling place of the Word made flesh through the ineffable joys of your holy birth, teach us the perfect dispositions of complete purity in body and soul, profound humility in spirit and heart, and an ardent and sincere desire for union with God, so that the gentle fruit of your blessed womb may mercifully be born in our hearts, bringing the abundance of divine gifts for the redemption of our sins, the sanctification of our lives, and the attainment of our crown in Paradise, in your company. So be it. Amen.”

Our Lady Ó is an invocation to the Virgin Mary that originated in Spain. The devotion is inspired by the last days of the Mother of the Savior’s pregnancy, in anticipation of seeing her Firstborn Son. Today, this devotion is known as “The Expectation of Our Lady’s Birth.” This expectation goes beyond a mother’s mere curiosity to see the child she carries in her womb; it involves a much deeper and supernatural anticipation of the mission of the Savior who is about to be born.
